Kaleidoscope is a study abroad company that teaches students to think about many different perspectives through magic and travel.
A magic trick has
three parts. The vision, rehearsing, and performance. Our story is like a magic
trick. Marlana started with a vision where she wanted to combine her
international studies and passion for traveling with students. However, it was
during a trip to South India with her husband Matias, a master NYC illusionist,
that they realized magic was the missing link that could turn a travel
abroad trip into a fun, exciting, and meaningful travel experience. They
thought about all the different ways that this could be done, and they had a
breakthrough in seeing the link between magic and cultural/conflict analysis skills. By
bringing you on board this magical experience, you will become a part of this invigorating
We have created a unique travel experience that combines learning magic in its sociocultural context to give our travelers a broad spectrum understanding of the social, cultural, religious, environmental, political, and economic context. This is a travel experience like no other as the students will experience not only traveling and all the fun that comes with travel, but they will also learn magic from master illusionists and interact with people from many different statuses, sectors of society, and viewpoints. The goal is to use magic to help students develop the capacity to see and handle all the moving pieces of culture and conflict. Just like a magician who is aware of the intricate pieces of an illusion while the audience only sees the performance, we will work with students to link new magic skills with cultural and conflict analysis skills.
